Visit the best-preserved temple in Egypt. See vivid scenes depicting the Roman Emperor Trajan paying homage to the ancient Egyptian goddess Hathor and other mythical reliefs that adorn this beautiful Greco-Roman temple. Dendera is about 60 km north of Luxor on the west bank of the Nile, opposite the modern provincial town of Qena. Called Lunet or Tantere and considered by the ancient Egyptians to be the capital of the 6th Nome in Upper Egypt.

Itinerary of the excursion to Dendera half day

We will pick you up from your hotel in the morning at 6:00 a.m. and drive about 220 km towards Dendera. (Different route from Marsa Alam). Dendera Temple was dedicated to the goddess Hathor, the goddess of joy, beauty, maternal qualities, and love. In Greek and Ptolemaic times, Hathor was equated with Aphrodite, with the Romans with Vernus.

In the temple you can visit the Holy Lake, the sanatorium, the Mamisi, and the only surviving image of the pharaoh Cleopatra.
